About The Jazz Alliance Big Band

The Jazz Alliance Big Band is a 19-member big band jazz ensemble based out of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Founded in 2008, the ensemble includes businessmen, teachers, doctors, and other professionals, as well as professional musicians from Nashville, Mt. Juliet, and surrounding communities who enjoy performing big band jazz music.

Under the direction of Joe Thordsen and Lisa Northcutt, The Jazz Alliance Big Band performs at events, dances, concerts, and festivals in Middle Tennessee. These include the Watertown Jazz Festival, Wilson County Fair, Centennial Park Big Band Dances, opening for Shakespeare in the Park, and the Commemorative Air Force Music City Wing Hangar Dance.

Our repertoire includes big band swing, contemporary jazz, standards, Latin styles (including bossa nova, mambo, rumba, and others), as well as some rock 'n roll, fusion, funk, and blues spanning from the 1930's to the 1980's and beyond.
